Styles can vary from being a rough split stone, to smooth honed & cubic, to being a thin mix of both polished & rough split-stone surface. It can be created out of slate, quartz, marble or travertine. Aristocrat also offers some porcelain choices that beautifully mimic the ledgestone affect.
