Solid Hardwood

Solid hardwood flooring is made of planks milled from a single piece of lumber. It is one of the oldest finished flooring types and provides the most natural beauty due to the depth of the grain.

Solid hardwood is very reactive to its environment, expanding with moisture exposure, and quickly losing its moisture content with dry climates.  It has slowly lost its appeal in some areas as design trends have favoured wider and longer hardwood planks, which are far less dimensionally stable in areas with high relative humidity.
