Recently Matt and I were in Toronto looking at new product to bring into the shop. Being on top of new trends in tile, wood and broadloom is a big part of what we do here at Aristocrat. We have been noticing a real trend toward the Moroccan inspired motifs in not only natural stone and glass but also in carpet collections. After years of crisp straight lines and geometric designs the soft colour pallets and sweeping shapes in Moroccan design seem like the natural direction. One of my personal favorites is Tabarka. Each piece is hand cut, kiln dried and painted in the colour selection you have made to create the most exquisite backsplashes. Each edge reveals the clay coloured base which give them the perfect patina. We have seen the classic onion and arabesque shapes cut in natural terracotta as well as Calcutta and Carrera. These same shapes can be found in glistening glass solids as well as glass and marble combinations. These shapes are as classic as the simple subway but feel totally new in today’s design. Come in and ask one of our talented design team to inspire you.
